The NOC List

So, every once in a while I get an idea for a show, movie, or book.  Today, I got an idea for a new show.  I call it "The NOC List".  It's a drama about two CIA/Freelance NOC spies.  Their cover is that they're married.  The show would probably start with them first meeting and getting the assignment (they're like different classes out of the farm or something).  They probably hate each other to start but then fall in love over the course of the first season.  Anyway, the only contact they have with the actual CIA (or whatever agency) is their handler.  Think Mission Impossible without the team or The Americans but they're the good guys and without the FBI side.  The guy is the weapons and demolitions specialists, the girl is infiltrations (computers, electronics, and safe cracking... think the girl on Breaking In... better if it actually was her but, whatever).  Anyway, the thing is, the show shouldn't focus on the missions themselves, but on the interaction between them and with their cover life.  More of a person focus than a mission focus, like with Rookie Blue and the Good Wife.  The missions can be episodic or whatever, but with the overall drama being serial.

Another pair of heels bites the dust

Once again, one of my heels broke.  On the way out of work today (thankfully, at the end of the day, instead of the middle like I've had happen a couple times) my right heel went down at a weird angle.  I just figured it caught on something at first but then I knew it broke.

Why is it that my heels never seem to last that long?  Granted, I got this pair back in September, but I hardly ever wore them until recently.  Is it because of my weight?  If so, then I shouldn't wear heels till I lose the rest of the weight.  Is it because I refuse to buy shoes for more than $30? Or do the $200 pairs break just as easily?

Either way, I'm on flats till next month, as my expense account is rather low at the moment.  I don't know where my money goes some months.

Insomnia

Last night, I had yet another bought of insomnia.  For some reason, it usually hits on Monday nights.  No clue why.  I keep the same bed time both during the week and on the weekend; only difference is I sleep in instead of waking up at 7.  Just, every once in a while, I wake up at 2 or so and don't get back to sleep till like 6.  I just get all humid and can't seem to get back to sleep.  I rather wish I could afford to just call in tired those days.  Course, I had meetings half of today anyway so I would have had to go in even if I could.

I know, woe is me.  I only have ONE job and it pays so well I can live alone in the greater NYC area.  Shame that I go a night or two a year without a full night's sleep.  I just always compare what is to my view of how things should be.  I SHOULD be able to take a shower after walking on the treadmill, but instead I have to wait an hour to stop sweating so the shower is actually worth taking.

My Barriers

When I was really young (around 9 or 10) I could never get above 70 lbs (I know, terrible right?).  Ever since then I've often thought of certain weights as barriers.  They're points that I usually need momentum to get past.  180 lbs is the one I'm working on right now.  It's the one I've spent the most time near.  Whenever I approach it and don't have enough momentum to get past it, I usually bounce off it and start gaining weight again.  This is usually due to me not continuing to work on losing weight once I get there.

Once I get past it (hopefully this week, should have been tomorrow or so but...) I'll be working towards the last one I will probably get past, 160.  This was discovered after my time in boot camp, when I was last down there.

My Theater is Gone

So, it looks like about a week ago, my regular theater went out of business or something.  They had apparently been renegotiating their lease and I guess no agreement had been reached.  I had been wondering why I couldn't get movie times for it anymore.  So, now I have to go over to Edgewater Multiplex.  It's about 5-10 minutes farther and is rather annoying to get to.  But, the next closer has terrible parking.

Anyway, went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness.  It was awesome.  Not as good as Iron Man 3 but still pretty good.  I loved how the ending was kind of a reflection of the ending to Wrath of Khan from the original movie line.

Crazy Cheesy Crust Pizza Left Overs

So, tonight I had the other 4 slices of the Crazy Cheesy Crust Pizza from last week.  Again, nothing special.  Still had too much cheese.  The crust was still greasy, though crispier than fresh cause I toasted it.  All around, a general thumbs down on this.  I will not be ordering this again.

Today and Tomorrow

So, I got a call from PSE&G (my power people) today about yesterday's power outage.  They said the outage was cased by their equipment that brings power to my apartment failing.  In a word, DUH.

While watching the season finales of the Vampire Diaries and Beauty and the Beast tonight, they were showing commercials for all the new shows they're bringing in next season.  One of the shows is the Tomorrow People.  For those of you who didn't see the version back in the 90s, it's about people who develop super powers, the primary one being teleportation.  I loved this show growing up but I don't think I actually saw every episode.  I've tried finding them again since but never had much luck.  So, it's so awesome that they're remaking it.

Yet another power outage. That's so much Sandy.

Nothing like having your power go out 10 minutes after getting home from work.  I was fortunate enough to not have much happen to me or mine during Sandy.  The worst that happened was that I had no power for a week (and no water for a day).  The other side of town was flooded.  Since Sandy, my power has gone out about 4 or 5 times, always when I was home.  Course, I'm home most of the time, so that's not hard.

Oddly Placed Trucks

So the theme for my morning commute today was oddly placed trucks.  There was one parked in the middle "left turn either direction" lane with his hazard lights on.  There was one blocking the road I usually take off of 17 pumping the sewer or something that looked like pumping the sewer.  And there was one (this one one of those car trucks) on the road I ended up taking off 17 and I could swear that the same exact truck was STILL there when we were going to Chili's, except that I don't think it had cars in the morning and it did at noon.

Nothing more to say

As usual, I have nothing else worth adding.

On my way home from work, there was a huge accident on 17.  There were 2 fire trucks and a cop car.  The traffic was backed up for a good couple blocks too.  This was at around 4 so not even really rush hour yet.  Fortunately (for me; I hope no one was seriously hurt there) it was on the South bound side and I was going North.

I often feel lucky, I just never actually am lucky.

"Where are we?" "I don't know, the tomb of Athena?" "I thought we were already in the tomb" "I think that was the lobby"

If I'm going to start going on the treadmill higher than 5 mph, I'm going to need to start wearing a sports bra.  I usually don't bother wearing any.

As I said, nothing WORTH adding.  This is why I never bothered keeping a journal or blog for more than a couple days.

Parking Courtesy

So, I went to the mall today.  No real reason beyond wanting to do something a little different.  I can't really find sheath dresses at Wal-Mart or Target, so I figure I'd see if I went down a size.  I didn't.

Anyway, the mall by me (Westfield, or something like that) is a bit on the large size, and has a huge parking lot.  Thing is, 90% of it (may be an exaggeration) is for valet parking only.  I'm extremely cheap, so there's no way I'm paying $10 for someone else to do something I'm perfectly capable of doing.  So, after getting lost in the valet parking only area, to the point of even leaving the area completely, I finally found the area where you can park yourself.

For those of you who DON'T live in a(slightly) over crowded part of the world, parking can be a bit annoying.  People go up and down the lanes and, when they see someone that looks like they're about to go to their car and pull out, will stop in the middle of the lane and wait.  They don't care that the cars behind them are trying to find parking spots of their own.

When I found someone actually getting into their car, I pulled off to the side as much as I could and put my blinker on.  This is how you're supposed to do it.  I gave plenty of room to the cars that were behind me to get around me.  When I was pulling out?  The guy that claimed my spot, I straight out signaled for him to pull off to the side.  I should have just gone out behind my car and stood there till he did, but by that time I just wanted to leave.

I mean, come on, it's just common courtesy.  Do unto others what you want done unto you, not what others already do unto you.

Oh well, it gave me something to blog about, and I got a pretzel while I was at it.

Crazy Cheesy Crust Pizza

Whenever they come out with a new pizza, I always seem to want to try it.  So, I got the new Crazy Cheesy Crust Pizza from Pizza Hut today.  First off, I moved a few months back, so half the numbers in my phone are for the places around my old apartment.  I ordered from Pizza Hut a couple months ago (when the sliders came out) so I just assumed the number was right.  It wasn't.  So I ordered a pizza back at my old Pizza Hut that went unclaimed.  I googled unclaimed pizzas to see how many go unclaimed in a year.  Go ahead and try that.  All I got was unclaimed lotto winnings and one papa johns page that had nothing to do with unclaimed pizzas.

Anyway, so after I got the pizza home, I had 4 slices (cause I AM still on a diet, despite this being a cheat day... and because it looked like there was so much cheese on there that if I had the whole pizza I'd be up half the night with indigestion).  Nothing special.  In fact, if anything, it had too much cheese.  The "large" pizza looked more like a medium, even with the extra wide crust (so really, the pizza part of the pizza was more like a small).  The crust was a bit greasy, and not all that crisp.  I'll have a leftovers review on it next week.

My TV Addiction

I mentioned earlier that I'm a TV addict.  What do I mean by that? Well... :

1600 Penn, 2 Broke Girls, Alien Surf Girls, Arctic Air, Arrow, Awkward., Baby Daddy, Beauty and the Beast, Being Erica, Being Human, Being Human, Blue Bloods, Body of Proof, Bomb Girls, Bunheads, Burn Notice, Castle, Chicago Fire, Covert Affairs, Cult, Deception, Defiance, Degrassi, Doctor Who, Drop Dead Diva, Elementary, Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, Futurama, Game of Thrones, Go On, Golden Boy, Good Luck Charlie, Grey's Anatomy, Grimm, Hart of Dixie, Haven, House of Lies, How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life), Jeopardy!, Last Man Standing, Longmire, Lost Girl, Lost Girl, Major Crimes, Melissa & Joey, Men at work, Monday Mornings, My Babysitter's a Vampire, Nashville, Nikita, Once Upon A Time, Orphan Black, Perception, Person of Interest, Pretty Little Liars, Psych, Red Widow, Revenge, Revolution, Rizzoli & Isles, Rookie Blue, Rules of Engagement, Scandal, Shameless, Smash, Suburgatory, Suits, Supernatural, Switched At Birth, Teen Wolf, The Americans, The Big Bang Theory, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, The Following, The Good Wife, The LA Complex, The Listener, The Lying Game, The Mentalist, The Neighbors, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Simpsons, The Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead, Torchwood, True Blood, Twisted, Vegas, Warehouse 13, White Collar

And those are just the shows that are still running.  I've had weeks where I've watched more than 40 hours of TV... while working full time (none of those hours done while actually working).  When I first watched the 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls (159 episodes), I did it in 10 days.  When I first watched the 3 seasons of Veronica Mars (64 episodes), I did it in 4 days.  I still have all 80 episodes of Hollywood Heights (a prime time daily soap opera).  So, when I say I'm addicted to TV....

Makes for having very little to talk about to people who don't watch the same shows as me, but I wouldn't trade a minute of any of my shows.

I might be going to Mars

For those of you who haven't heard yet, a couple weeks ago I submitted an application to go to Mars.  Yes, as in the planet.  The mission isn't for another 10 years but the application process is now.  Not really sure how much training is involved but the next round of the process starts in September.  Anyway, here's my application video http://applicants.mars-one.com/profile/7776bf56-295b-4647-a980-b0aea855bc7a

The Halve Your Cake and Eat It Too Diet

So, I've had several comments over the past 13 weeks about my weight loss.  I figured I'd start a blog about it, cause, what else and I going to talk about and I figured it might help someone else.  So, here's my diet plan:

I switched from drinking a bottle of soda a day, 5 days a week, to the Wal-Mart brand of Mio Energy (I'll be switching to the real stuff within the next 2 weeks).  It give the caffeine I need on some days, which was the only real reason I was drinking the soda besides having something to drink at work other than tap temperature water (I drink refrigerated tap water at home), without the added calories.
Calories in a bottle of soda: 880 (4400 a week, or about 1.26 lbs a week)

I started walking on the treadmill for 80-90 minutes a day 6 days a week and a little over 2 hours for the seventh.  This stemmed from my getting a Kindle Fire for Christmas.  You're probably wondering why the approximate times or how one relates to the other, but fellow TV addicts probably know.  An American hour long TV show lasts about 40-45 minutes without commercials (varies between episodes, even within the same show).  So, during the week, and on Saturdays, I watch 2 TV shows on my Kindle Fire while walking on the treadmill, and 3 on Sunday.
Time on treadmill: 10 hours a week, roughly 2800-3000 calories (.8-.86 lbs a week)

On top of this, I cut out all snacks (other than popcorn to start but I cut that out as well a few weeks ago) and all fast food (other than on Fridays but that usually goes to pizza) and I've cut back on portion size.  And the method of doing that is where I get the name of my diet plan.

At lunch, I take whatever I would normally eat.  After sitting down, I separate the food into two equal parts (I halve it :) ) and only eat half at lunch.  The other half I eat for dinner.

Since starting this diet 13 weeks and 2 days ago, I've lost 38.5 lbs; slightly below 2.9 lbs per week.  My goal is a total of 83 lbs, but if I hit a point where further loss isn't possible without going to a more extreme plan, or my stomach gets perfectly flat (I doubt it) I'll stop.  I'm not going to kill myself to get thin; that's not the point of this.  The point is I'm 30 and it's about time I actually start taking care of my body... and maybe look hotter in the process.
